Digging Into the Word: Proverbs 2:10-22

Hi everyone! I apologize for the quietness here lately. It's been quite a chaotic month in our home. My oldest turned 18, we had a round of sickness go through the house, we took a short family trip, then we had another round of sickness go through the house! In the midst of the chaos, I found myself getting more and more stressed.

Suddenly, I realized I had been neglecting my morning quiet time with Jesus. We kept doing our family devotionals, and we read from the Bible during our homeschool. I kept telling myself that was good enough and I would get back to my quiet time when life calmed down a little. Wait, what???

First of all, I learned that family devotionals and homeschool Bible reading with the kids definitely isn't the same as one-on-one time with God. Not to mention, in the midst of the chaos is when I had the most need to make that time happen! No wonder even small things were beginning to stress me out!

That being said, I'm getting back into it. And what better way to also get back to my love of writing than to continue in my Proverbs study? Let's dive right in! At the end of this post, I will link up the previous studies in case you missed any and would like to read them.

When wisdom enters your heart,
And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
Discretion will preserve you;
Understanding will keep you,
To deliver you from the way of evil,
From the man who speaks perverse things,
From those who leave the paths of uprightness
To walk in the ways of darkness;
Who rejoice in doing evil,
And delight in the perversity of the wicked;
Whose ways are crooked,
And who are devious in their paths;
To deliver you from the immoral woman,
From the seductress who flatters with her words,
Who forsakes the companion of her youth,
And forgets the covenant of her God.
For her house leads down to death,
And her paths to the dead;
None who go to her return,
Nor do they regain the paths of life--
So you may walk in the way of goodness,
And keep to the paths of righteousness.
For the upright will dwell in the land,
And the blameless will remain in it;
But the wicked will be cut off from the earth,
And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.
Proverbs 2:10-22

When you has wisdom, God's wisdom, you have truth. Truth is the protector from all evil. You will have discretion to keep from following those who are twisted of speech, who leave the right path and delight in doing evil, who are crooked. It will keep you from being as one who delights in others doing evil. Wisdom will help you discern a flattering tongue. It helps you walk in the ways of goodness and righteousness, and to dwell in the land blameless.

In other words, when you walk in God's wisdom and truth, you will not be easily deceived by the world's temptations and flattery.
